NIERFIELD FOCALISATION
In the family of "beamforming", MicrodB developed an algorithm which as well functions in far field (as the traditional method) but also in close field with the advantage of improving the resolution and MicrodB named it : "nearfield focalisation".
This technique carries out an operation of retropropagation like acoustic holography; if its principle of treatment is much simpler to apprehend since it is a question of adding with the sensors with delays corresponding to times of course, its algorithmy is much difficult since quantitative information is wished. It presents also the disadvantage of having a worth resolution in low frequencies. On the other hand, this technique has two advantages :
It requires less sensors, which is an advantage for the impulsive noises where one wishes to have all the data at the time of the same acquisition,
All the points of measurement are not inevitably in the same plan, which becomes an advantage for the structures of complex form and measurements inside a cockpit.
