ACOUSTIC HOLOGRAPHY

The acoustic holography technique is based on spatial Fourier Transform of the sound field. It allows, starting from the measurement of the sound field on a plan, to compute the pressure and the acoustic intensity in a tangent plan with the source.

This treatment of "retropropagation" makes it possible to improve
the resolution and precision of localization of the sources compared
to the technique of acoustic intensity which is satisfied to represent
the measured field.

The principle of treatment breaks up into three stages :
Decomposition of the acoustic field on a basis of plane waves
(it acts of a decomposition but at any time one does not make
the assumption that the waves are plane),

Retropropagation of those waves until a tangent plan to the
transmitting structure. The algorithms have an important role
to get the best resolution without divergence,

Recombining of the waves to give the sound field in the plan of
  calculation (pressure or intensity).

By complying with the code of practice in its experimentation, this technique has the advantage of having a high resolution even with low frequencies.
